An Historic
CT
Adam Matlock Words, Music, some kinds of instruments.
An Historic is my songwriting project and my primary means of associating with other Folk Routes affiliated artists. I write songs on accordion and piano, usually perform them solo or make my one-person overdub slopheap on recordings. I am inspired by Balkan folk and Klezmer, black Spirituals, weird modern rock and so many of my wonderful and talented friends. I may be in the process of getting a pick-up band together, after dragging the now-defunct Mallory into a few tunes with me on tour and realizing how much fun it was.
G. Zarapanecko is more personal, less often live. Ambient music with real instruments (as well as computers and keyboards and stuff.) Aiming for dream logic and perception with broad strokes. This alias is gathering together for an explosion sometime soon, and the result has yet to be predicted.
Sometimes, under my own name, I write longer things that are a little stranger. I'm really into free improv and i play with groups like Broadcloth. I'm also actively deconstructing folk music with Dr. Caterwaul's Cadre of Clairvoyant Claptraps, and playing with a couple of pick up groups. I'll probably be in your band or collaborate with you if you want! Also, I am unhealthily obsessed with plantains.
thanks to Evan and Max for taking these videos!
