"Freedom from Expectation" by AKrokus
I want the world to crawl back out from its intricate caves
and burn its eyes on the Sun’s curious light.
I want our mothers and fathers to check their own closets
for there’s no telling what’s lurking in the night.
I want to tell someone they mean the world to me
as if it was a phrase I have never heard.
I want us to make love the way we want to make love
and not in the ways that we have learned.
I want freedom from expectation and the ramifications it emits.
I want to nurture these mysteries and reject our histories that restrict.
I want us to clang pots and pans with the confidence of an orchestra
outside of key or time and only with heart.
I want to smear paint on paper like a child
because we shouldn’t give a fuck if it’s art.
I want to get in the car and leave the road map on the street
but never get lost because we have nowhere to be.
I want America to wake up fresh in their familiar sheets
and that night, not know where they will fall asleep.
